Did you know, that on this forum, the Regattas & Events category alone has had a total of 15,634 views?

I'll attempt in words - but a quick video would be more helpful. The basics:
1. layout spin on ground along port side with tack forward and clew aft - head on top.
2. start in the aft and tie sheets to clew.
3. tie halyard to head - make sure retrieving line (other end of halyard) is tied off to the bar at the bow opening. May have to get up on boat to tie the head on.
4. untie the line from bow bar and take it UNDER the sheet (stb sheet) and under the sail. go first through the grommet on outboard side of sail then tie to patch on inboard side of sail. The head will go up as you pull the retrieving line to thread it.
5. tie the tack line on the tack (think of the luff as having to make at straight line between the end of the sprit and the top of mast with nothing in front of it (inside jibes).

where many go wrong is on step 4 (they don't under the starboard sheet which coming around the port side of boat) and/or at 5 (the run the clew under the starboard sheet to tie on the tack.

There are a couple little things that folks do but this is the basic to not get things twisted. Keep doing and you'll get the hand of it. You can remove (or modify as some have) the trailer mast support and pull out the sprit so you can tie it up and launch the kite while it on the trailer (light wind mind you) to see it all play out correctly.

Hope that helps (and you are not more confused.....) Someone (Brian/Hayden/or sailmaker) should do a video.

Sail fast and fun.
Cheers,
David

Great regatta at a great venue. Hoping the VX One's will support this event. Naomi has worked hard to build this event into something better for the Gulf Coast sailing community focusing not only on the Capedeville participation but making the high performance trailerable classes more visible.

Make sure trunk is clean. Also, Intensity has some cool keel chocks that bolt in from the top that are mfg'd by one of our own down under. I used wedges prior to the chocks but they come out.

Probably not too far from you as far as heavy air with dropping the car all the way down with the sheet on the bottom, or next to bottom, hole on the clew board - driving off the jib. Your "lumpy" setting is interesting. I think some of this is going to depend on the cut jib one is using as they seem to vary pretty much from mfg to mfg. I also think the jib will setup different based on the mast tune. In light stuff we sail with the car pretty high probably about 6 degress off CL with the sheet eased for twist and footing for speed build and sheeting when up to speed or having to stay up for a lane or the such.

All that being said, I have marked the jib traveler using degrees from CL. Smuggling this from the Smuggler himself, I think this provides a baseline for us all to develop some settings - especially for the sailmakers. It seems as though everyone is using scale stickers and they all vary. Thats definitely not taking us anywhere. I can share my dimensions for the degrees from CL as soon as I scan the page and post it.

Good stuff JJ. Let's keep chiming in on this.

Starting a new discussion here and hoping you might chime in on the adjusting of the mainsheet bridle for varying conditions, affect on main leech and headstay, etc. It would be good too if other have experience with this from other classes that use double mainsheet bridles like the 49er, etc. Thanks.

Nathan,
Thanks for the response. The smoke tint looks sharp. Probably a North Gen V sail. Should say on the sail near the tack. (PS - Lets get some royalty stickers on those sails too! :)
The VX will be the hit of the boat show I am sure! Post us some pics!

Regattas and Events / Sailing World Annapolis NOOD 2014
February 21, 2014, 01:11:23 PM
Encouraging ALLVX owners to preregister now for Annapolis NOOD. The organizers are looking at ONLY our "early" preregistration as an indication of our seriousness to attend the event. This plays a vital role in our location as a fleet and the logistics. Bottomline, we need all VX owners to preregister NOW even if you are currently unsure of you plans.
Thanks,
David Reich VX Class

jlightning,
Thanks for the post on our forum. The VX One is an exciting platform with a strict one-design approach to keep things both affordable and sustainable. We have a great group of dedicated owners in the US, and abroad, with a growing number of sanctioned fleets here.
We are looking at some growing interest in the GL area and there will definitely be some demo opportunities in 2014 in that area (post-thaw :). In the meantime, there are boats available for charter at select events in the south this winter as well as many opportunities for you to come South, warm up and give the VX One a try. If you are up for that, let me know. We'd be glad to arrange whatever works best for you. In the meantime, please feel free to stay in touch and throw us any questions you have,
