The Oklahoma and Texas fleets are getting together again this coming weekend at Rush Creek Sailing club. Expecting 7-8 boats and right now conditions are looking nice for the weekend.

Had a great event with the VX fleet at HOOD. Light winds for the weekend but the VX represented its self well. Lots of people interested in the class and the boat.

As for the slipping, I have found that three wraps on the horn cleet and then three half hitches seems to fix the problem quite well. When doing the wraps keep the really tight and really get the halyard tight before you start.

As for the tangles, we roll it very carefully and then when it is time to take the main down we get it out of the small bag and throw it out the back of the boat allowing it to follow us in the water. If we are already at dock I do the same and it seems to keep if untangled.

The main halyard just takes some time to get used to but after several times out you won't even think about it.

The Texas and Oklahoma fleets will be meeting up at the Houston One Design regatta. Currently we have 6 boat preregistered and looking to probably have eight boats total. This will be the VXs first appearance at this event and hopefully it will be a memorable one.

That is a real bummer, would have loved to see the 28 as a real number.

VX One Discussions / Class speed record?
July 08, 2014, 04:47:12 PM
It would be a cool idea if the class established some formal rules for a class speed record. Maybe GPS and video, just a thought.

Tim Pitts seems to have the class record right now with a truly incredible top speed.

I like the idea of that fix, guess since the class pres said it is legal then it is good to go!

Looking to buy an older used spinnaker from someone. Basically trying to keep the new one as nice as possible for as long as possible and for beer can races want an older chute. Make isn't important.

We had a pretty good hang up the the other day and realized the halyard got recleated .

Jay,

We had some friction also at first, if you tie a small tail to the retrieval patch and then tie the halyard to that it will solve alot of it. We also have tied the bowline big at the patch in place of the tail and that seems to work also.

The theory is that it prevents the entire body from hitting the snuffer at once and spreads it out.

The other thing that we have found is that if the driver reaches down and banjos the retrieval line right as it loads up it seems to suck it past the worst of it quickly.

VX One Discussions / #161 Coming to Oklahoma
February 21, 2014, 01:20:09 PM
Hull #161 along with 4 others are coming to Oklahoma in mid March. Can't wait for the boat to be here. They will be joining Brad Hickman's #108 to give us a total fleet of 6 here at Oklahoma City Boat club. Between our fleet and the growing fleet in Dallas we are going to have alot of fun this coming season and seasons to come.

Look forward to getting to race against all of you!
