Title: New guy intro and vang setup question
Post by: trend.ab on August 11, 2016, 06:27:05 PM
Greetings - I just bought 209 from Nathan at Ovington boats and had it delivered to Switzerland. I know some of you from sailing the US nationals last year in Gulfport - I am very happy to join you in the class.

I had a few setup questions which Hayden answered for me in great detail and very easily understandable.
I will post his answers in subsequent posts, so that other new owners may be able to find them.

With regards to the vang:
I see that the length of the vang line is made adjustable on the boom. I am wondering what a good setup to start with may be.
Does anybody now boom height over deck with the vang all released - or how is your vang base setting?

Welcome to the forum and VX world.  Which sailmaker made your sails?

North with an intensity spinnaker.

I have North too.  The vang movement range is about 3" along the boom.  I look at the leech and telltales more than the gnav location.  I also tied a bungie between the main clew and the gnav shoe to assist the outhaul movement off the wind.
