The Atlas instrument by Vakaros.   For years we've known 'Distance to the starting line'. but now you can also have 'Time to line'. A big, big, big help in larger fleets.  Between buying & selling Vx's I ended up w two Atlas.   

You can have for $400.  Updated software, capable of accepting future updates.

We're looking to charter again for Charleston Race Week. We do not need sails, friends in the fleet can provide sails. If you'd like/need a new sail that certainly can be part of our charter fee.

We live in Annapolis. Severn Sailing Association recent granted Vx & Vipers approved One-design status. That will help grow local fleet.

I'm sailing some of the Sarasota Winter Series, perhaps we'll meet.

Hello all,

In an episode of pre-regatta confusion, I ended up buying a second Shift Compass.
Shift is great & combined w/ Speed Puck I have speed, COG and SOG.

Selling barely used Shift for $400, includes mounting bracket.

One of my best friends made a really stupid mistake 60 years ago. He was born August 17th. So of course surprise birthday party in Newport Beach, Ca the same weekend as Vx Newport regatta. Darn, really wanted to sail beautiful Newport again.

But lucky you. Race ready #216 is available for charter August 16-18. Includes good sails, SpeedPuck & Shift instruments.

Hello New England,

it's quite likely--(but not yet guaranteed) that #216 is available for charter this summer in Newport. #216 is well-maintained, latest upgrades, including SeaDek, shroud handles, double tapered spinnaker halyard, Speed Puck & Shift. 

$3,500 includes a space w/in the Vx fleet--paved, not gravel lot & closest to the hoist.

Hello Vx fleet,  Another round of Vx clothing is now available. Vx #103 is available for charters.
This summer #103 likely will be in Newport, RI.

#103 is an older boat, thus about 35 pounds heavy. But she's received heaps of upgrades, including a 2017 re-fit by Brian & Hayden Bennett.
New Ovington rudder,  very nice two-layer SeaDek, new hiking straps, jib-track through bolted, double-tapered spinnaker halyard.

At Severn Sailing Association
I'm  thinking of storing Vx (or Viper or J-70) on a lift, similar to what many smallish powerboats do.

Any experience?

Sport boats are a different animal, while we may know to go 'bow down and go fast' it's still a bit odd to ease jibcar to 10' even 11 degrees, sheet main out & go 6 (plus) knots. But w/ speed the foils work better. That's the back story.  Many of us have been pulling our vangs as hard as we can, but (for some of us) if the vang is two-blocked, it doesn't matter how hard you pull, all you could possibly do is mash sheaves together.    Look inside inboard end of your boom. If the 2:1 purchase is w/in a few inches of inboard end of boom you simply don't have enough range.   Solution is very simple----just tighten the skinny vang line that exits the top of boom and goes to the 3:1 purchase on the vang.   We don't ever want to be close to two blocking in breeze.            perhaps you'll have to ease that skinny boom line in light air if your vang doesn't ease enough. Simple to do.   

Buying a newer boat this spring so #103 is available.

Older boat, w/ keel at designed weight--thus overall weight is 35 pounds above class minimum.

  SeaDeck soft-deck installed.  New 2017 Ovington ruder, new hiking straps & upgraded spinnaker sheets.
  Three sets of sails: 1) North sails used less than seven days.  2) Intensity set of sails and special heavy-air jib & mainsail (1/2" luff curve removed)
  Top cover, mast cover, Intensity rudder/tiller bag and shroud bag. No bottom cover. 
SpeedPuck shows heading, boat speed & maximum boatspeed.  Shift compass.
  New tires on trailer & trailer license doesn't expire until 2023.

Ft. Worth North Americans are 12 days later. For those of you who aren't trekking to Ft. Worth, please consider Oct 6/8.  Excellent opportunity for us to showcase the Vx.  In the parking lot & starting line will be J-70's, Vipers, I-14, 5-0-5's. All of these are excellent prospects to sail/buy Vx's

My assumption is we'd want a two day, not three day regatta.

Recently bought #103 and want her to sail OFTEN in Newport, RI.  Would like to add a motor bracket for light air days. Who has experience/advice?

Approx. cost of bracket?
I assume it's detachable.

Annapolis is gradually building sport-boat momentum.  We've had approx 15 people test sail the Vx.   Need an older spinnaker for these demo tours.

Throwing stuff into land fills doesn't make me feel great.  #116 Harken Topcover is quite faded & the primary zipper (starboard side: shroud to mast) is buggered up.   $50/OBO earns this cover. 
Possible uses:
    1) The zipper could be repaired, or simply sew a velcro closure. 
    2) If you have trees, berries or birds making your nice top cover dirty, use this to protect your better cover.      'Double bagging'
    3) Cut it up & make a BBQ cover.
    4) ?????

Lives in St. Louis & Vx is on Lake of the Ozarks.
Really nice German man, a bit olde. .
Thus the Vx is for sale.  Vx has only sailed once & has the North sails have been only used once.
Basic package,  no electronics, no second set of sails. does not have padded cockpit floor. Trailer is excellent shape, no yard dolly.  Top cover but no bottom cover.
Moderately motivated seller,  listed on Yacht World for a too high $24,000.  Make offer.

Looks like I'm ending up w/ two sets of North racing sails.  My existing set is great,  approx 10 days of use, none in heavy air, so the jib hasn't flogged. Spinnaker all white.
