Regattas and Events / Charleston RW 2018
December 03, 2017, 01:25:41 PM
I see that CRW is on the "schedule" for 2018.

Charleston is certainly a great party venue while the sailing is so-so - but I digress....

Anyway - has CRW been contacted to add a VX One addendum that makes it possible to comply with the NOR?  What I am referring to is the NOR requirements of minimum 3 crew per boat.  Having a class event at a venue that would only allow some of the VX One's (the ones sailing with 3) to compete is really not a good option.

Just wondering..............

VX One Discussions / Class activity
December 02, 2017, 09:31:03 PM
Hey guys and dolls,

I joined the class a little over a year ago and am stunned by the total lack of activity/communication in the class. Pretty disappointing really.

Is the class just completely made up of introverts, who fear any kind of dialogue?  Or is there some super secret subgroup that really likes to keep most other class members in the dark?  Or?, or?

What the hell is going on (or not)?

I think the VX is a great boat but without some sort of class activity it will never take off as a class and leading to a slow death - not what I and (I hope) you want to see.

So what can we do to get some juices flowing?

I would suggest starting with at least having a class forum where any and all activity get put on the table so every class member at least has a chance of getting informed about what is cooking.

Thoughts?

I have assembled the measurements for the VX One as I applied for a PHRF rating (for some of the local beercan and fun races)

I have confirmed the numbers with Brian and thought I would post then here for everybody's use

Got my Vx in the fall but haven't sailed it yet.  Some of the lines (esp spin sheets and halyards) that came with the boat seem less than ideal (no tapers, loops just straight lines) and I would like to make up lines during the winter period.

Does anyone have a list of running rigging with dimensions and tapering lenghts that you are willing to share?  It would be great.

Thanks
